Fun

Everyone likes to have a little fun....Well I like to have a LOT OF FUN!! But this page I'll tell you about places to go and attractions you may want to experience. Places right around the corner and some around the world. So pack your imaginary bags and let's hit the road.

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to Cancun. It was gorgeous there and we even got to visit the ancient Mayan Ruins, Chichen Itza. It's one of the 7 wonders of the world, so I guess that's 1 down and 6 to go! Word to the wise.....if ever in Mexico, please know Spanish or take someone that does, or else you may get taken advantage of! The locals can smell a tourist a mile away!

We got to go snorkeling and at first I was horrified, since I'm not much of a swimmer and you had to go out into the deep ocean waters to do it! I could just imagine myself out there in the middle of the ocean kicking and screaming for my mom(when I knew good and well she couldn't save me even if she was there.) But the instructors ensured us that even non swimmers could do it and he gave us instructions of what to do before we left the dock.  Then he throws another curve ball.............We had to drive the boats ourselves....So you telling me, I have to learn to swim and drive a boat, all in less than 3 hours.. MR, You have officially lost your mind!! But I sucked it up and took that boat by the wheel and went for it... Of course I was scared at first, but it turned out to be really fun (might have to go buy a boat now). Snorkeling was the BEST! Once you learn to just breath through your mouth and take long strong kick strokes, the rest is a piece of cake! Getting to swim with the fishes, LITERALLY, was a blast! I'm ready to go again!

Chichen Itza was a wonderful experience. It's about a 2 hour car ride from Cancun, so if you're ever in the area you should make arrangements to go. You can either take a tour bus or did like we did and rent a car. The ride down the interstate was long and peaceful(nothing but miles of trees).  It had been raining off and on the entire week, so we were glad to see that the sun finally came out and stayed out. But the after effect was intense levels of humidity. The sun came out blazing and the temps got up to about 95 degrees. So it was hard to fully enjoy the scenery because of the intense heat and the thousands of "vendors" that swarm you and tell you "Good deals" and "Only $1"(I quickly had to learn to not make eye contact and just ignore them, even the ones that followed you around)

Another great part of the trip was that our resort had a refuge for baby sea turtles. The grounds keepers would scour the beach for sea turtle nest and then relocate the unhatched eggs to a safe haven where they would stay until they were hatched. And once hatched they would deliver them to the beach where the babies could make it to the ocean (without getting eaten by crabs and other predators or even stepped on by humans). So every few nights they would have an Release the Turtles party where you could go help the baby turtles get to the ocean.
